About us

Under the blessed patronage of Saint Anthony of Padua, St. Anthony’s High School has been running successfully for more than 160 years.

It is a Catholic Institution established and administered by the Catholic Archdiocese of Calcutta.

The School is recognised by the Education Department of the Government of West Bengal and falls under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education as well as the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (Commerce).

The school is located in Central Kolkata and for years has been a guiding light for boys. The school embraces all kinds of students regardless of their caste, religion or class and has been catering for a glorious 160 years and counting.

Our Motto

The motto of St. Anthony’s High School is FORTITUDO. Fortitudo stands for physical strength, moral courage and bravery. These are qualities that we at St. Anthony’s have pledged to imbue the students with, along with their developments in the Academics. Hence, all these virtues which help us to create gentlemen and bright citizens out of young minds for the society, form the motto of our school.

What makes us different?

While the prime purpose of the establishment of this Catholic school is the education of Catholic children in Catholic faith and principles, children of other faiths irrespective of caste, creed or community, are also accepted here.

As a Catholic school, it is a Learning Community which has Christ as its central, motivating force. His values, as expressed in the Beatitudes, and summed up in the virtues of love, sincerity, justice and freedom, so permeates the atmosphere that children of all social backgrounds, even the most deprived, and of all religions, feel welcome in the loving warmth which cherishes even as it challenges.

Campus

The school has been a result of the hard work of several luminaries and boasts of two buildings where the classes have been set up.

Nursery & Kindergarten

The Nursery and Kindergarten section classes are air-conditioned and an audio-visual method of teaching is employed to brighten the little minds.

Library

We encourage the students to visit the school library and cultivate a habit of reading books

Computer Laboratory

The computer laboratory aids in the teaching of the subject of ‘Computer/Computer Applications’ and helps students to get acquainted with the theoretical as well as practical.

School ground

The school ground is used to host physical education classes, which are held compulsorily once a week (for every class).

Auditorium

The school has an auditorium (Fr. Camille Limbourg auditorium) which hosts various co-curricular competitions as well as numerous programs held all around the year.
